Knokke-Heist puts Magritte in the spotlight.

50 years of Magritte. On 15 August 2017, it will be exactly 50 years since the death of the Belgian surrealist artist René Magritte. During the International Magritte Year, the municipality of Knokke-Heist, in collaboration with publisher WPG, will celebrate the surrealist’s life and work with various events.

On the beach near the Casino, you will be completely immersed in the magical Magritte atmosphere from 30 June to 3 September 2017. The top attraction is undoubtedly the Belfius Magritte Virtual Reality Tour. Enter in a large bowler hat, put on VR goggles, take a breathtaking journey into Magritte’s living world and float through his most important works. 50 people can be seated under the bowler hat at a time. The entire site on the beach is as large as 5000 square meters. Those who wish to linger a little longer in the Magritte universe after their virtual journey are welcome at the Magritte Bar. The Magritte shop offers beautiful souvenirs and children can get creative with various activities.
